Ditching Reagan

The title is a bit of an oversimplification, but I'm encouraged to see that former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush understands the GOP's need to move beyond the ghost of Ronald Reagan.
"So our ideas need to be forward looking and relevant. I felt like there was a lot of nostalgia and the good old days in the [Republican] messaging. I mean, it's great, but it doesn't draw people toward your cause," Mr. Bush said.

The party clearly needs relevant ideas that are applicable to Americans today - not 1980. Last fall's Ronald Reagan debate in Simi Valley was an embarrassment

Ronald Reagan's principles are as relevant today, as they were in 1980 Timelessly relevant as our Constitution. The freedom to create wealth. Yes, wealth is created. Man's material welfare is Natural Resources + Human Energy, multiplied by the efficiency of its tools. De-centralization of Federal Powers (10th Amendment) Reduced taxes (30% reduction) and a balanced budget. Constitutionally proper provision for the common defense. Reagan pried open the choke plate of the ever expanding federal behemoth that had lodged itself deep in the throat of America. dampening the aspiration of the economic engine driven by free individuals. Timeless principles. Nothing wrong with any of that. Unfortunately, George Soros backed candidates wound up winning both parties. And, he has other ideas for this country. His money talked.

Reagan, the communicator, convinced the country that it was ready for a return to the founding principles that made it great. He came on the heals of the socialistic Carter malaise, Ford's WIN buttons and the Swine Flu, Nixon/Johnson idealism/socialism, the new Frontier and the awful New Deal. He was around to see the mistakes of Wilson idealism, and the tyranny of the 1st dictator of the United States: Franklin. History is periodic. Since Reagan, We've been through "Bush 41. A kinder gentler. thousand points of light, Clintonian Socialism, and more people dying in two skyscrapers in NY City than died at Pearl Harbor, the Bush 43 malaise, and now: The Raw Deal. I've been hearing talk of 10 Trillion dollars in 100 days, Tory. That's more debt than the combined debt of all administrations since the foundation of this country. Do the math: Its $33,333.33 on the head of every American. And, we know that not everybody is taxed the same way. Tory. I'm blessed so blessed to have been working today. I'm making 40% less than I did 3 years ago. I thank God every day for the job I have. I never worked for a homeless guy. Governments produce no wealth. They can only re-distribute. To give, they must first seize. Mark my words: You youngsters, who are holding the bag for all of this, aren't going stand for what this 60's commie retread and his ilk who never had dirt under their fingernails, never worked a real job in their lives, are doing to our country. The pendulum is going to swing back. We are Americans, and as before, we shall overcome this Obamanation. It won't be Reagan, but it will be somebody with his principles.
