Over the course of my time here, I have become more and more sympathetic toward the Catholic church. Tonight as their beloved leader, perhaps, nears death it was reported by CNN that he has received his last rites.
Apparently, Pope John Paul II incurred a rapid loss of blood pressure due to a circulating infection which caused his heart to pump more blood- ultimately resulting in cardiocirculatory collapse.
As Catholics around the world (myself not included as a Baptist--I think that's what I am) watch, one can't help but be moved by emotion as goodwill and news reports from around the world watch in earnest.
Tonight, before sleep, I'll say a brief prayer of peace for an ailing figure who brought joy to so many others.
