Well, this Monday morning finds me up bright and early working on my final paper for speech class due at "high noon" tomorrow. I'm really excited about this paper because it deals with a topic near and dear to my heart--Social Security. I actually said that straight faced. Fewer things are as mind numbing as this particular topic. Even when I heard the President speak to this issue's importance, my eyes glazed over at the prospect of flow charts and graphs denoting the impending doom which will befall the system sometime during the first half to first quarter of this century.
But, gladly, this paper will find me discussing very little of this issue. Instead, I am analyzing the public remarks of the President, and evaluating the ways in which CNN and Fox News framed the issue and how it distorted the President's message in the State of the Union Address.
If the paper comes out well, I'll post it in here for your enjoyment--or torture. I'll be amused to see if this generates any comments. My suspicion is that little of what I write is interesting to my audience--which I reportedly have if I am to believe the Sitemeter at the bottom of the page. Back to work; perhaps after a second coffee and a bagel.
